Lanique Burnett assaults her child’s father after a night of drinking

31-year-old Lanique Burnett was involved in a domestic incident with her baby’s father, Deangelo Brown, at his Randolph Place apartment on April 24th. When officers arrived on the scene, Brown stated that he and Burnett had gotten into an argument because she had been drinking and left to go to a liquor store. When she returned, she began trying to fight and push him into a wall, causing damage to it. After the incident, she left the scene before officers arrived.

Burnett also called 911 prior to officers coming, stating that Brown was intoxicated, “off his meds,” and being violent towards her but refused to come back to the scene in order to complete a report when dispatch attempted a return call. Officers did not smell any alcohol or notice any mental problems with Brown.

April 25th, the next day, officers received a call from Brown stating that Burnett had unlocked his front door with a spare key and had made her way inside. She removed a dolly that was propped up on the door, which Brown heard, and a physical altercation ensued. When brown spoke to officers, he stated he was trying to protect himself and remove Burnett from his home.

Burnett advised that their child usually sleeps at Brown’s home but that the child was having a hard time falling asleep so she returned for her. Brown showed officers footage of Burnett outside of his apartment, which created a disturbance in the first incident. Burnett was determined to be the primary aggressor and was taken into custody for domestic assault.
