Laura Gipson flees police in Infiniti G37, caught with meth & marijuana

36-year-old Laura Ashley Gipson was taken into custody for evading arrest, simple possession, felony possession, false reporting, and unlawful drug paraphernalia on May 15th. Around 5:16 p.m., deputies were called to the Sycamore View Road Fairview Inn regarding a possible drug violation. When officers arrived, they noticed a gray Infiniti G37 with dark window tint traveling northbound on Sycamore View Road toward I-40. Officers caught up to the G37 near Summer Avenue and activated their emergency equipment for a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled. During the pursuit, the Infinity’s windows were halfway down, and officers observed a white female with sandy brown hair, later identified as Gipson, as the driver. Later, officers located the G37 backed into the Fairview Inn parking lot and surveilled it. As officers watched the vehicle, a white female, Gipson, wearing a red shirt and shorts, approached the vehicle, opened the rear driver-side door, and grabbed a purple Bass Pro shop bag and a grey backpack with blue trim from the car. Officers converged on the vehicle and detained her. A subsequent search led to them finding a glass pipe, a baggy with 1.2 grams of marijuana, and a bag with 1.2 grams of methamphetamine. Even though officers reviewed footage showing her operating the vehicle, Gipson denied driving the car. Then, she gave them “Sheila Hamby’s” social security number before officers positively identified her. Gipson then admitted to fleeing from the traffic stop and was detained for the occurrence.
