19-year-old Chekira Applewhite was seen in a 2008 tan Pontiac GT driving the wrong way on Winchester Road on May 23rd. After stopping Applewhite, officers observed that her eyes were watery and that she was slurring her words. Applewhite told officers she was drinking at the Echelon Night Bar and Grill, which led to officers requesting that she perform field sobriety tests. Applewhite consented to the sobriety tests but performed poorly and was taken into custody. While in custody, officers searched Applewhite’s car and found an open bottle of Lunazul Tequila bottle under the driver’s seat. Chekira Applewhite was taken into custody and charged with underage drinking and driving, reckless driving, and possessing an open container of alcohol while in a motor vehicle.
Chekira Sade Applewhite was booked into the Shelby County Jail on May 23rd, charged with juvenile driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and open container. She was released on her own recognizance.
