On November 22nd, 2023, 30-year-old Sarah Benson was seen obstructing traffic in a 2004 Chevy Cavalier at the Leath Street and Saffrans Avenue intersection. Officers observed this and ran the tag on Benson’s vehicle. They found that the car had been stolen. Officers conducted a traffic stop and detained Janice Freeman, the passenger, and Benson, the driver. Benson was found to have a suspended license, no insurance, and misdemeanor warrants for her arrests. Sarah Benson was then taken into custody and charged with obstructing a highway, violating vehicle registration, driving with a suspended license, and using stolen vehicle license plates.
Sarah Benson of Coke Cove Memphis, TN, was booked into the Shelby County Jail on May 11th, charged with obstructing highway, violation of vehicle registration, use of stolen or lost vehicle plates, and driving on suspended license. A judicial commissioner set her bond at $62,500.
